Hi Andrew, born in summer of 42 / 43 my memory of the following summer is somewhat diminished but started farming on my own account in the autumn of 1969 and the summer of 69 /70 was trial as we had a seasonal June to May rainfall at Waipara of around 13 inches and that was challenging. the next season was an uplifting 16 inches.
Interesting work.

Hi Andy..are you coming up with an article for Wheedle wind-up.I
observed wheedle closely for few days and my observation was that Carl
had the vision but he was not a strong decision maker, he was easily
influenced and depended on people around him to make decisions.His
partner co-founder Ranjith(CTO) was very influential on him.We never
found him competent at all but since he had a share in Wheedle he had a
say.He probably screwed up this venture.
Carl probably ended up with
bad company around him.Within days got to know how this partner was
selfishly using Carl for to achieve his own gains.The work outsourced
earlier was to his friends in India.The second time he again convinced
Carl to outsource it to another firm which he had contacts with.Wheedle
wind-up was bound to happen but that guy Ranjith surely gained by
hanging around
My adivce to Carl would be to choose a honest co-founder for his next venture or himself be a venture capitalist.

So wheedle is to close or will be sold. I'm not surprised. I personally sent 20 emails to the directors showing them what was wrong, and added 1 item that could have turned wheedle into a rocket ship... not one reply. Still sad to see it go.

Let's not forget that Brown had a copy of E&Y's report days before it was released to the public. He also had a QC at his side & it is my best guess that what content made it into the public arena was negotiated line for line.

Using his position to gain perks or favours was the one thing that was going to trip Lying Len big time. It seems amazing therefore that E&Y would have glossed over the reference but that is the way the report reads.

Probably Len's legal eagles managed to get the incriminating bits redacted.

Really good informative post.

Like a sheep ... baaaa ... I signed up to wheedle and wasted 1 dollar worth of internet usage on this site.

They have a chance to go one better then trademe by adding more features and or making "search options" allot more user friendly.

Listings are pretty lame. Most are over priced. Not for me.

Chuang is an opportunist,she knew exactly how to play this to her best interest and frankly her 'poor little victim' routine is a pathetic attempt to redeem herself. What did she expect would happen when she got into bed with a powerful married man, a prominent public figure. But she didn't stop at one did she, no she got into bed TWO, she played them both, seriously I have no sympathy for this insecure attention seeking woman at all. She has brought all of this on herself. Pity for her the jobs and holidays she were promised didn't work out so instead she thought she'd create a media shit storm and ruin a few lives.

Since publishing this article Chris Auchinvole and Paul Hutchison have both confirmed their retirement while speculation has grown around the possible retirements of Lindsay Tisch and John Hayes. The table has been updated accordingly.

In late August the Environment Court gave the go-ahead, granting a 5 year consent to use the Hagley Oval for a maximum of 13 match days for major fixtures (over 2,000 spectators) each cricket season, with a maximum ground capacity of 20,000 spectators.

Among its conditions the consent allows the construction of the grass embankment, two-story cricket pavilion, and four retractable light towers, along with the demolishing of the existing pavilion.

It also allows parking for up to 2,000 vehicles on the adjoining polo grounds and temporary facilities to be in place for up to 40 days per cricket season.

Excluding the Cricket World Cup, major fixtures can only be played on weekends.

Great stuff, Robertson has to take the top prize. He has been the most ineffectual MP for the poorest electorate in the country. He has allowed himself to be used by the Labour Party, he has never gone in to bat for his people. He has consistently said his claim to fame is standing as patron of numerous sporting clubs in South Auckland. Frankly he doesn't have a brain in my view. Now he is standing for the local board, because, according to his electoral propaganda, he has realised working locally is where one can best have effect. What did he ever do about the loan sharks, the pokies, the fast food joints, ZILCH. He was a dam disgrace as is Labour who sucked up all these votes election after election.. without doing anything for the poorest in the country.

Eric Roy was a junior whip and is deputy speaker, Lindsay Tisch was deputy speaker and is now assistant speaker.

Please see the second table above, it lists the roles in order of how I've ranked them. Disagree with the ranking of roles if you like, but there's no error as I've ranked the importance of Spokesperson above the roles of Deputy Speaker and Junior Whip.

Jacqui Dean and Nicky Wagner have both recently been appointed Parliamentary Private Secretaries

These roles aren't listed against their Parliamentary bios, perhaps suggesting they're of less importance than the highest roles I've afforded them.

In a big caucus not everyone can get into Cabinet - especially under MMP which requires some Ministerial roles for coalition partners.

Absolutely, and the underlying premise of the ranking I've provided is that those ones who do miss out on a Ministerial posting (or other such appointments) are the ones who the Party deems to be less up to the task.

Just found this article after searching under "wheedle problems". Trademe has a brilliant service called "My Products" and I have over 200 products listed, so it seemed a bright idea to import all these products into Wheedle' "My Products" - what a nightmare! The software they are using is so archaic, uploading images, doesn't actually work, I've wasted hours of my time trying to get it going and have had a great deal of difficulty understanding the instructions I have been given because I struggle to comprehend how such a simple process has been made so convoluted and messy by whoever wrote the Software for this service! It has been over 20 years since I worked as a software developer back then this process would have been convoluted and messy, let alone in the 21st century. I want my money back as well!
